Many of you may know that RE/MAX Solutions volunteers every third Thursday of the month to deliver food for The Haven for Children. Theresa Howell has been organizing this effort for a few years now. What is the Haven for Children?
Child abuse and neglect continue to be a serious problem in our county, state and country. Children who come from abusive family situations often have special needs because of emotional, physical and developmental delays caused by the birth mother’s abuse of alcohol or drugs, the lack of proper nutrition and the lack of nurturing or loving by caring parents. The Haven for Children, Inc. program’s goal is to NOURISH and PROTECT the children in its CARE and GUIDE them toward POSITIVE SELF-GROWTH.
The Chef du Jour program organizes volunteers to provide dinner 365 days a year to the children who have come to live at the Haven. Each volunteer delivers a meal for approximately 12 children and 3 caregivers. Meals don’t need to be elaborate, just nutritious. You can cook yourself or you can order a meal from a restaurant to be delivered…or even donate funds to help purchase food. RE/MAX Solutions is committed to providing meals once a month to the Haven.
We are always looking for a few more volunteers to help us with our Chef Du Jour for THE HAVEN FOR CHILDREN for 2021! We still have July, August, November. & December available. Remember, you don’t have to cook, you can order food for delivery (for those of us that may not be great cooks.
