RE/MAX Affiliates,
First, we hope you and your family are safe, healthy and adjusting to whatever situation you have at home and in your community.
With U.S. federal/CDC social-distancing guidelines extended to April 30 yesterday, it’s very clear – if it wasn’t before – that we must continue to adapt our businesses to this new environment.
In states where real estate sales have been designated an “Essential Service,” we’re hearing more and more stories of RE/MAX agents serving clients and closing sales using virtual tools and systems. In other states, where real estate is on a more formal pause, affiliates can still reach out to people on a human level – which will pay off in business down the road. If your state or local government hasn’t designated real estate sales as an “Essential Service” – or hasn’t gotten to that point in the process yet – we’ve drafted a letter you can use to support the argument. The critical thing is to take action. Doing nothing is not an option.
At RE/MAX Headquarters, we’ve been taking action to support you and your business. And that won’t stop – even after all this has passed. A few updates to share:
1. CARES Act
Last Friday’s passage of the CARES Act includes several provisions that could prove helpful to you, such as:
New and expanded Small Business Administration loan programs for small businesses, including real estate agents
Relief for businesses with existing SBA loans
Expanded unemployment benefits
Retirement account withdrawals, free of penalties
Tax deferrals and benefits for self-employed individuals and independent contractors
Family Leave and Sick Leave protections
You can find details on all of the above on the RE/MAX News site. NAR also has information and resources to tap into.
2. Virtual resource: Zoom accounts for brokerages, agents
In order to help all RE/MAX affiliates conduct virtual business in the COVID-19 environment, we’ve worked with industry leader Zoom to provide free accounts – until June 1, 2020 – to every brokerage and agent who would like one.
We’re providing Zoom Pro to every RE/MAX brokerage in the world – one per brokerage, so everyone has a chance to participate – and an enhanced version of Zoom Basic to every affiliate. To activate your account, visit MAX/Center, where you should see a Zoom tile starting today.
Note to Brokers: An email about the Zoom Pro offer was sent to one Broker/Owner in nearly 5,000 RE/MAX brokerages on Friday. That individual is the only one permissioned for the Zoom Pro account. So, if your tile activates a Zoom Basic account, someone else in your ownership group likely received that email. Also: Someone in your Broker/Owner group must have a remax.net address in order for your brokerage to participate.
3. Enhanced Communications and Education
In addition to the daily RE/MAX University Webinars that attracted thousands of participants in its debut week, we’re announcing several new twists in the way we communicate with you.
We know that now, more than ever, you need to stay informed and connected. To deliver on that need in a strategic, streamlined and consistent manner, we’re introducing the following schedule:
